ASEAN WOMEN IN E-COMMERCE

Women entrepreneurs and small businesses are powerful engines of growth for the ASEAN region. For this report, the Global Innovation Forum interviewed 10 businesses founded or operated by women across all of the Member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations — Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. These entrepreneurs discussed the opportunities of finding new markets, highlighted the range of technologies they relied upon to be global businesses, shared a number of common challenges they face, and emphasized that governments and forums like ASEAN play a key role in their success.
