The shop’s role in the community goes beyond their sales. “Service is a major side of our business,” says Kaitlin. “It allows people to feel comfortable asking questions instead of assuming and risking harm in the water.” Kaitlin and the Neptune team give customers the tools to safely explore the ocean, from trustworthy apparel to seasoned advice.
Diving into Digital
From the beginning, Neptune embraced digital payments. While digital payments were a given during the pandemic, Square still handles around 98% of all Neptune’s transactions. “Digital payments are a necessity in the modern era,” Kaitlin explains, “few people carry cash.” The flexibility to use tap-and-go, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and even remote payment links has ensured reliability for both in-store and online customers.
With their new website going live, Neptune is entering the digital retail space, allowing them to reach customers across Australia. For Kaitlin, Square’s integration with her inventory and online store has been transformative. If an item sells out in-store, it instantly updates online, avoiding double-handling and customer disappointment.
Kaitlin and her team are also exploring new offerings, including guided trips and community events, as the brand strengthens its reputation. She is glad to be using a digital platform as they expand: “It is simple, reliable, and it grows with us.” As Neptune grows online, trust in payment security is central to protecting its reputation.
